On the 11th of May, there was a fire at the studio.
What happened
The fire enveloped all three buildings of the studio and ruined the gear inside. Luckily, the studio itself was affected mainly by smoke damage, and by the water from the firemen who were putting out the flames.
This has led to a long period where I have been unable to work, and I am still unable to work. Nothing has been resolved in any real capacity yet. We are still waiting for the insurance to tell us what we can do next in terms of cleaning the gear.
Where things stand
I do not want a payout from the insurance. That is not what I am asking for. All I want is my original gear back, professionally cleaned and working again, by people who know how to deal with fire, smoke, and water damaged equipment. As it turns out, that is actually quite hard to find.
This means that the studio, as it stands, has absolutely no income at the moment. I am unable to do any musical work in any capacity, which is awful timing, because we are in the final throes of the Call of Duty Zombies album, as well as Z Live, and a new Z album.
What comes next
For the time being, I am putting all of my life into an upcoming non-music related Z project that will be revealed in the coming weeks. This has been a great departure from what I am normally used to doing, and this project in and of itself is almost nine years in the making. It first saw its initial reveal in the Down music video.
For now, the future is uncertain for the studio. I do hope to be up and running again in the coming months, but for the foreseeable future, there is no work to be done.
Thank you
I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me regarding the fire. I will be making a new Updates and Downdates video on YouTube. Remember them? There, I will explain everything in detail and show you videos of what happened, as well as the aftermath.
It has been a truly harrowing year for many reasons, but I am hopeful that we will steer through the hardship and get back to where we need to be.
Thank you again, and hopefully I will speak to you all soon.
