The end of the year...

The end of 2015 is just around the corner and so I thought I'd recap the last year here on Hurt Records before this year ends. It's been such a creative year for me here and luckily I've been really invested and interesting in every project that I was involved in. I thought I’d just talk a bit about some of the releases from this year… The Upsidedown (EP) from Quiet One was released in 2015 and it was a slightly darker step for Quiet One in terms of lyrical content. One of the songs called 'Spider' came from the..  … Read More

Quiet One - Engineer Thoughts

Hello all, This will be my first post on Hurt Records, and my first post speaking as anything actively music related. Let me explain; As some of you know, my name is Jack but I am known online as 'Boop'. Now I don't have a rich background in music like Benn does, but I am generally tech savvy and have experience with video creation and voiceovers which I do on YouTube. I have featured on albums on Hurt Records before, the small narrative pieces on the majority of the albums, and that was the extent of my involvement until the..  … Read More

Free ZOMBIES Ringtone.

Hello everyone, This is just a really quick blog to mention the fact that there will be a series of Zombies I (mixed down) ringtones available from these blogs in the future. All for free of course! The Sounds of Movement...

Hello, It's been a week or so since my last blog post and I apologise for the delay. It's been an incredibly busy few weeks for me an my bands. It feels like i've not stopped working since I last wrote the blog post. Creativity has seemingly only come to me in its true essence over the past month or so, it's like a muted adrenaline, continuously coming from my mind and I am powerless to stop it from creating. I am now happy to announce that the Quiet One album now has a name (which you will learn at..  … Read More

Quiet One // Updates (10/04/14)

Hello, It's been a solid few weeks of mixing for me and it's been really enjoyable. It's strange, for the last five years or so I was finding mixing a chore and therefore found it hard to really put my heart and soul into my output, that is no longer the case. I've been blessed (not religiously) that my pro audio friends have been so kind in their endeavours. As you may know, I'm a Pro Tools guy, I've been using it since it first entered the market place and I've loved every update that it brought. The problem is,..  … Read More

Auto-Tune... (10 Years Later)

This is something that I’ve wanted to talk about for the longest time. It’s something that both; helps people create and is slowly killing the music industry, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on Auto-tune. Now let me get one thing clear, when it comes to certain styles and genres, most producers and artists would be completely lost and unsuccessful without Auto-tune. For anthems and remixes it’s the perfect tool to either sculpt the formants of the voice to fit the project or completely change the key of an original sample whilst maintaining the integrity of the audio...  … Read More
