Portraits...

Hello everyone, I just wanted to spend a few minutes talking about Portraits. It's been such an incredible journey and I can't resist boring you with some words. Early last year we started writing songs for the album. The basis of most of the songs came from John who wrote huge drum scores and sent them to me in a demo format. I would then spend quite a substantial amount of time working those drum parts into full songs. It's not a standard way of working but it absolutely is the only way that we will be able to write..  … Read More

The end of the year...

The end of 2015 is just around the corner and so I thought I'd recap the last year here on Hurt Records before this year ends. It's been such a creative year for me here and luckily I've been really invested and interesting in every project that I was involved in. I thought I’d just talk a bit about some of the releases from this year… The Upsidedown (EP) from Quiet One was released in 2015 and it was a slightly darker step for Quiet One in terms of lyrical content. One of the songs called 'Spider' came from the..  … Read More

Two Down // The Two Lost Boys (Update 30/03/15)

It's me again. It's been a really busy month here in Two Down land. We've been placing the finishing touches on our upcoming record and I'm counting down the days until we unleash it. I've never been a part of something like this and the scope of what we are trying to achieve is almost palpable at this point. At this juncture we are left 'in limbo' as we have been told to live with our current versions of songs for a week to gauge whether we think they need anything else in our FINAL recording day in three days..  … Read More

Two Down // The Two Lost Boys (Update 25/01/15)

We have been in the studios for a solid week now and so I thought that now would be an opportune moment to explain the process and give you some sort of update. On Monday (19th Jan) we travelled up to a studio in North-West London to start the tracking process for our album. For the last three months we've been tracking some fairly extensive demos so that our entry into the studio process would be more focused. About six months ago we decided to leave the older songs (from the original album) and move forward with a new set of..  … Read More

The End of 2014!

Hello! It's not long until we draw a line under 2014 and if I'm completely honest, it couldn't come quick enough. In terms of professional luck, this simply hasn't been my year. That doesn't mean that there hasn't been anything to celebrate though. The release of Quiet One in the summer was by far the most important event of 2014, it not only allowed me to exorcise 12 songs from my mind, but it also introduced so much to Hurt Records. Before Quiet One, we didn't have a support service, we didn't have a physical office and production room (to create..  … Read More
